Translations
NRSV & NRSVue
The New Revised Standard Version (NRSV, 1989) uses a literal word for word translation that aims to serve a broad range of devotional, liturgical and scholarly needs. The New Revised Standard Version updated edition (NRSVue, 2021) is a major recent revision of the translation. All the bibles we carry of this translation contain all the books of the Catholic canon of scripture.
New Jerusalem
The New Jerusalem Bible (1985) translation makes use of the oldest available texts as well as transliterating certain words such as ‘Yaweh’ and ‘Sabaoth’. Features the full Catholic canon of scripture.
NIV
The New International Version (NIV, 2011) translates phrases into smooth easy to read English, aiming to preserve the meaning of the text rather than being literal word for word translation. Features the Protestant canon of scripture.
KJV & NKJV
The King James Version (KJV, 1611) and New King James Version (NKJV, 1982) use a literal word for word translation and has had the largest impact on English idiom, with the NKJV seeking to update archaic language such as ‘thee’s, ‘thy’s and ‘thou’s. Features the Protestant canon of scripture.
